Merge a Project (Pro Users)
Previous Topic  Next Topic

These features are available only in Project KickStart Professional.

You can merge a Project KickStart project (*prx) into your current Project KickStart project. Your current project is called the master project and the merged or inserted projects are called subprojects.  After you merge a project, the tasks of the subproject will be inserted in the master project.

To merge a project in Project KickStart 5:

  1. Open the project you want to become the master project.

  1. If there are already tasks in the master project, you can choose where to insert the subproject.  Go to the Tasks Step or Schedule Step, and click on the row where you want to merge the subproject. The tasks of the subproject will be inserted above the row you select. (If there are no tasks in the master project, the tasks of the subproject will be inserted at the end of the task list.)

  1. Use the File/Merge project command on the menu.

  1. In the Merge Project dialog box, browse to the subproject you want to merge, select it, and click Open.

  1. The tasks from the merged project will appear in your Task List. Other project data, such as people and assignments will also be appended to the respective sections.

Tips

The name of the master project will not be changed, however. Therefore, it is a good idea to adjust the name of the project and to save the merged file using Save As under a different file name.
